 Oh my god, wow, never thought I'd actually end up on the front page... :D Thanks guys! It's been a fun week of obsessively pressing the 'update' button.

Spent a really fun day hanging out at a safari park with 2 friends, 2 excitable kids and lots of bits of camera (James - thank you for taking us there and shooting with me :) ). This was when the birds of prey were getting fed, and their trainer was giving them a workout and making them fly around from post to post (my lovely shiny 70-200 lens did most of the work here, I just pressed the shutter button lots :) )

Hehe, anyway, I'm still stunned. With all the talented people and the level of photography DPC has, this is an awesome compliment, thank you :)

CONGRATULATIONS! This is such an amazing photo. We don't have any places like that here where birds fly around for trainers. I wish we did. I'm so happy for your winning your first ribbon! Keep taking shots like this, and I have no doubt it is the first of MANY! :)

It's hard to pick a winner in this challenge because the standard is so high. But you must be in with a chance - this is fabulous.

Lovely capture of the owl.

Only slight nitpicks are the jesses flying up (not much you can do about that) and there are a couple of odd artifcts in your shot. One centre of screen and one on the left . . which sadly (once they are noticed) pull the viewers eye away from the Owl.

On the upside though - lovely bright eyes and wonderful wing position.

The shape of the bird is what makes this shot for me. I wish the background was a bit more homogeneous so that it would isolate the bird a bit more.
