I had even less sleep last night than the night before with Timone. And yes, I stayed on the couch with him again. Then at some point in the wee hours of the morning when I was sleeping and he was not, he licked on his bandage so vigorously that he got it pulled nearly off. So I called the vet to get an appointment to get a new bandage, all he had was an afternoon opening. Meanwhile, we cut the current one open so we could get it back on and then retaped it, which lasted all of an hour. Did it again, lasted another hour. Finally I gave up and left it off, he was much happier but then I had to see his poor little paw :-( Looks like it is healing well, though. He has been hyper since 7AM; I won't even go into all of the things I did to try to amuse him. The little angel finally fell asleep around noon. This is one of the images I took of him watching our neighbors while sitting on the window sill not long before he finally passed out.

Update: Timone now has a new bandage on his leg and I got one of those neck cone thingies just in case he gets into some exuberant licking again :-)

Oh, and to answer the question of how he got hurt, I'm not really sure but my guess is a dog got him. Most folks around here let their dogs run free, and some of them are pretty evil and will tear anything apart. We do have a large yard that is totally enclosed with trees and cool places for the cats to hang out; if they just stayed in the yard or in their 'house' (they have the run of a couple rooms in the mobile home we lived in while building our little house) they would be safe, but unfortunately all of these cats were 'born free', so to speak, and most of them still want to roam a bit.

Very cool reflection. Very cool photo. That cat is the bomb! And so are you for taking such good care of him. I expect he is more wise now in the ways of dogs & will hopefully not loose any more toes.

That's an amazing capture!! You managed to get the reflection just right!! Timone reminds me of my Timmer and their names are somewhat similar. They have the same personality, at least from what I've read in your posts. I'm just glad he wasn't hurt worse and if it was a dog it probably got some major scratches on its nose. We have a leash law around here but occasionally a dog gets loose and trees any cats who happen to be wandering about. One of my cats actually spent 3 days and 2 nights in a tree because he was afraid to come down. He finally jumped off a branch into a thicket when a repairman on a ladder tried to get him down.
Please keep us updated on Timone's progress with his new bandage and neck cone!

I understand totally about prey drive in dogs. I don't think it necessarily makes the dog bad, but the responsible owners need to keep their dogs inside a yard or on a leash. You can't blame a dog for being a dog but you can certainly blame an owner for not taking care to keep the other animals around them safe. I am so sorry that Timone was injured. I am seeing the whole world reflected in his eye. Something very symbolic about that. My Crockett (who we lost in December) had horrible prey drive. I had to be very vigilant about small animals and even our cat. Being a herding dog, the instinct just went into overdrive and turned into a prey thing. With humans he was the gentlest and kindest. I miss him.

Best of wishes to your beloved kitty. I hope he weathers the storm and you can return soon to your bed, and get off the couch. :~) HUGS
