Challenge: Trains & Railroads II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D100
Lens: Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro for Nikon

On the Sunday before this challenge started, I sat at a train station for 2 hours waiting for a train to come in. Didn't like any of the pictures that were taken.
The last day of entries, I went down to a place that had a lot of high cross tracks.

The biggest problem is it was raining and the sky was a flat grey. No textures from clouds, nothing.

I tried to keep the sky out as much as possible. Knowing how bad it looked. I hadn't submitted anything within a month and needed to get back on track.

Not one of my favs, but the ones who commented on the lines/angles in the pic are correct IMO. Without those, it would have been even worse.

Thanks for comments, they are always appreciated!

Old and withered, yes, but other than that it's a little hard to tell what I'm looking at. If this weren't in the trains challenge I don't think I'd know it had anything to do with trains. I like the diagonal lines in your composition though, to me that makes this pic.

Overall it's a nice shot, I would like to have seen the sky blue in this shot,(JMO) I like the darkness of it but I also like my photo's on the darkside.

A good idea, but over saturated steel supports, the overly darkened structure shot against a flat sky wash out any interesting details and do not affect the image in a positive way. It is a unique angle and presentation which is a positive, but the execution is lacking in both a technical and artistic sense.
