 I know I'll get comments that this shot is cliché, done many times here on DPC. But I’ve had this on my own to-do list for quite some time. I do like the sharp shadows and the text from the Song of Solomon and the fact that you can read the writing on the ring.

I tried many ways to reduce the dark shadows at the top of the ring. But the only way to reduce the top shadows is with more ambient light. My original had a hard shadow heart outline.

... Once I retook the image with more ambient light, the darkness on the top of the ring remained but I still liked the new look better.

The effect acheived for this is very good, with the hearts from both light and shaddow. Yet something is missing from the shot to make it really work. Id on't know if it is the glare off the book, or a focus issue, but it just doesn't have the appeal for me that it should

One of my top picks. The scripture chosen could be a pro or con. I recognized it, appreciated it, and applaud your choice; someone less familiar with the Bible may not see this as a love poem.

First off, let me say that this photo is technically good. However, I tend to score overused concepts a little more harshly than original ideas.

This photo has been done time and time again on DPC, so therefore it should be much easier to nail than an original concept. To get a high score from me, I would expect the technicals to be near perfect considering there are so many examples to go by on this site. IMHO.
