 A candid of a girl and her dog. I was struck by the extreme concentration the dog showed while the girl spoke quietly to him, as if he was really trying to understand her.

It occurs to me some voters might think it doesn't fit the challenge. C'est la vie!

Processing: Crop, use automatic color balance to reduce color cast, set black and white points, clarify, decrease color saturation, sharpen, add border.

Oddly, this is not one of my highest scores, but it is the highest placing image I've had so far in a challenge: 27th place. It helped that there were only 117 entries.

Oh they understand alright, perfectly well, especially when you speak to them alot, this is a great candid moment.

I think the people who voted it down might be ones who do not appreciate the fine communication skills that pets really do have. I love the muted color. The lighting and details on the face is amazing! It looks like he is ready for a kiss lol.

I love the subtle color here. Just gorgeous. And wonderful job focusing so intently on the beautiful pooch :) (And congrats on the placement, no matter what!)

Great Capture!! It has a street photography feel too it. I love the composition and coloring. I think this represents language well, although I bet you are getting a ton of DNMC. Dogs have a great language without any words. I think you captured it well. 10

And they pay attention. A good depiction of how Man's best friend will listen and respond. The partial desat works well for this image. Shame about the drain and cracking pavement int he background which does draw some attention away. But a good shot.
