I finally got around to getting a Hoya R72 filter to experiment with near infrared photography. Of course I had try it out immediately after picking it up from the Post Office; this is the third image, taken from my car right out in front of the PO, using my old Sony DSC F707 (I knew I've been hanging on to it for some good reason). I haven't had the time to really play with it yet, hopefully I will this weekend.

I did a lot of processing in an attempt to give it a vintage colorized feel. Images with the F707 come out green when using the night vision mode (which actually lifts the IR blocking filter in front of the chip) so I had to get rid of that. To get color back, I created a couple layers with colored filters to get the main colors for sky and buildings, then masked what I wanted not to show. Then I did some painting with different colors each in their own layer set to soft light mode. And I had to clone out a couple of cars. Finally, I ran Color Efex Pro polaroid transfer filter. I think I'm going to have fun with this whole IR thing :-)

Very nice look to this, like an old faded photo.

Excellent work! Don't you just love new toys? Love the whole unfinished look and can't wait to see what else you come up with with this.

Isn't it fun getting something new to mess with!!?! This came out great and the framing effect the polarid transfer filter made looks great with it, too.

Your editing paid off. This is a 1973 image if I've ever seen it. Too bad there isn't some old boat Pontiac parked out front to send it over the edge. :~)
