Probably the best scene I've ever captured.

***
I like this photo for so many reasons. The guy in the red shirt is my Russian bro Anton, who is chilling with his Apple Mac (which was a cyber miracle in this surrounding) while we were riding on this insane Russian train. It's called Platzkart and is basically a sleeping train, with no separate rooms in cars so you sleep 'hanging from the walls' surrounded by your fellow passengers. You can check what that looks like here >>>
This scene was shot in a restaurant in that train, where you can see this interesting clash. Notice that the guy far left is wearing slippers, as some of these people travel up to 2.5 days to go from one city to another. So, they become really comfortable and feel 'at home'. The man in the middle is a waiter in the restaurant and he was bored to death cause there was not much business arround. The curly man next to him is just another passenger, but a rather interesting figure. The bottle in the foreground is a good old "Sibirskaya Korona" beer, and there's a Menu next to it. There's this fine positioning of all the characters in the frame, in what seemed to me like a zig-zag motion, from Korona to Anton, from Anton to Slipper man, right to Curly and back to Waiter and in the end straight to the lense.

What wonderful things one finds with a little patience, just browsing through old challenges or travelling by train.
I remember this story from Tiziano Terzani, a journalist for Der Spiegel. He was travelling on a russian train, in the middle of the steppe, when a massive armed conflict exploded between two gangs of criminals. The huge fellow Russian passengers he shared compartment with basically picked him up and carried him to an empty wagon which they barred. They spent the long night between vodka and bread, laughing without understanding each other, or perhaps not. The train didn't slow down a bit, piercing the frozen void of the night. Because a train's job is to carry life, not to stop for it.
Not quite sure why I write this, trains do carry lot of life, but they also freeze the course of things, give time to look back and forward.
Good work.

I would have never guessed a train. I thought it a diner of some sort, but a train? With those curtains and pictures hanging on the wall? WAY cool!

Got a 7 from me because I like the rather barren story that seems to be taking place (or not). Lot of interest for me... Heck, I travelled the length and breadth of China on hard-seat trains, for days on end. I know the feeling and like it too.

Wow. You know, a train adds even more interest to this shot. Ignore the score - this is an amazing image, though under-appreciated by the DPC masses. Its not a sunset. Keep the colors - they add to the chaos and the real life feeling. Maximally underrated, you honestly deserved better. Maybe if some of the voters stopped and looked and actualy thought about it for a while, they would see the beauty...

I like the perspective, everything looks old and gives a mafia style, i just don't like the cellphone and those beers and i think the colors could be stronger! Good luck!

Great characters here and nicely composed so that they don't clash with each other.

Intriguing, full of interest. To see so many people in a room not interacting at all is just wild!

I like that all four people have distinct and interesting poses. Like the grain as well.

unusual slice-of-life shot but it does work, esp with the characters in the bg. 8

I am not quite sure what I like about this shot, but I somehow like it. I think you post processing treatment somehow fits the overall scene very nicely. Nice one actually, 7

Color doesn't work here. Sepia would do quite well and dodge the distraction of the jaundiced colors.

I like this scene, each person has their own story going on. THe guy in the white shirt looks like he is stealing something. Even the photographer, I think is trying to keep a low profile to get this image.

I like that you can see everybody's heads, nobody is blocking anybody else. I also like that nobody is looking directly in the camera, they're all distracting themselves with something else.

Not sure what the guy in red is doing, but I like teh "snapshot" look and the compsition. Based on the glow on his face I though he may be looking at his phone, but that is on the table. A laptop maybe? The whole thing is a mystery. Which I think is good.
