You've probably already heard this: The shifter isn't a strong enough subject. Still a good picture, but just doesn't fit the challenge well.

on the whole the shot is interesting..... which definately takes away from the subject of the center

Great shot, but I wouldn't really say the shift is the focal point of the picture.

Very fine! It looks to be in pristine condition.

Composition is very good, and I like the 'slick' atmosphere of this image a lot! The link to the challenge seems a bit weak though, I guess the knob of the stick-shift is centered intentionally...

This is a nice shot in terms of sharpness. You've got the gear shift pretty dead center (I'm not measuring). But I don't know....it's a car interior and the main focus is the gear shift? The sepia tone was a good choice in terms of helping to tone down the visual clutter.

Great picture! The only thing that strikes me is that the item in the center -the gear shift- is the only thing that seems a bit soft. Maybe that's just because it's the only thing that isn't shiny. Anyway, really nice shot.

Unusually sharp without (significant) halos which is quite impressive! Image is also just a bit bright for my liking. Nice choice going with sepia/duotone.

My 13 year old son loves old cars; in fact he wants me to help him restore an old Mustang when he is 16. Very nice detail and the duotone works well for this shot. Good Job!

i love the picture. is this your Mustang? However to me the steering wheel is focus of attention, not the shifter.

unusual photo that stands out of the rest because the centered object isn't that obviously visible..I think it's great though and I must add some points only for creativism and daring to send this in!

The center of focus for the picture to me is the steering wheel, had to look at your title to know you were wanting it to be the gear shift, but there is not enough in the gear shift to make it stand out to be the center of focus. Beautiful car and photo besides that though.
