I wasn't planning on entering this challenge, but I went down to see my son in a play today and we had a few hours to kill between brunch and the play, so we wandered over to a nearby park and found ... Civil War reenactors, complete with tons of antique things. Naturally I was drawn to the photographer!

I can't swear that all of his equipment was from the 1860's, but he was taking pictures and developing them right there using the types of equipment and techniques common to the era. Part of the camera looked old, part looked in awfully good shape for an antique, but I didn't actually ask.

Decided to try and process this to look like a hand-colored old print. If nothing else, it was fun to play with.

PP - cropped, levels, white balance, duotone with 40% of original color showing, gradient filter on top and right, dodged camera and photographer's cloth, colored lady's skirt pinker, cloned out some tourists in the far background and some of another reenactor's skirt on the right, blurred background a little, Cloned more darkness onto tree behind lens, shifted overall color balance to red on the midtones, desaturated photographer's cloth, added border, resized, sharpened.

One of my favorite things about DPC is that our images get resurrected and revisited in the most unexpected ways. This is just so marvelous. I really thought it was a postcard when it first came up.

Cool! Perfect interpretation of this challenge! Despite connection to invention of color photography (idea is great!) I think monochrome could be better. I would have placed them closer to each other, but again that is just small subjective note :) Excellent work!
