St. Thomas of Villanova Church on the campus of Villanova University outside Philadelphia PA.

Ground broken: March 29, 1883
Cornerstone blessed and place: June 3, 1883
Completed: 1887

I wasn't going to do this challange because I had no idea what to shoot. Then it dawned on me that I am around buildings that are over 100 years old everyday. Lucky I had a very warm day on Saturday that completely melted all of last weeks snow so I decided to take a drive down to Nova and take some shots of the Church. Unfortunately for all of the day it was overcast. I really wanted to shoot the church in late afternoon when the sun was low so I waited it out and headed down around 4ish. When I got there, of course, the was a wedding out on the steps. So I waited some more for them to disperse. Finally between 4:30 and 5 I got to shoot the church. Like a miracle, the sky cleared and gave me some great background color and sunlight on the church. If you have ever seen photos of the church, they are the typical front or angled shots. I took some of those and tried to work every angle and get detail. On my way out I was going to take some of those front shots and decided to try a few looking up the front facade toward the sky. Luckily I got this shot and thought it was the best of the day. I hope you like.

Shot in RAW
saved to hard drive.
Isolated the sky

Expectations? I think I will top my best that is currently hovering around 5.1. I hope this hits my first goal of 5.5 and has at least 5 comments.

Fabulous angle! Good subject isolation too. Don't thinkg the border was needed though.

Good perspective and a nice sky. I get the feeling it is a tad too light, would like to see it darker and with more contrast.....make it more dramatic.

The building has a nice contrast against the (slightly unusual shade of) blue sky. I do think it would have been nicer if you could have included the whole front of the building though. From this I have no idea just how high you are looking at the building, whether that is the top of a doorway at the bottom of the frame or just an arch in the decoration. Also might have been worthwhile perspective correcting it, even if only a bit.
