Bought a fresh pack around the corner at the food store. Ripped a clove or so from the head and placed the loose skin at bottome right. Shot with two clamp lamps each with a 100w energy saving bulb, K2700. There was some room light and daylight as well, so I had to fiddle with the tint in post. Shot with camera on tripod and used the cable remote release.

Post: Camera Raw adjustments in PSElements 6.0. Changed tint in raw from +2 to +25. No crop. Spot edit dust. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Adjust sharpness. Resize. USM.

Very nice. I just voted on a similar image of Onions that seemed a little cleaner and more dramatic. Possibly it is the lighting and the slightly messy looking garlic.
