I actually took this a couple of days ago as well. I really got the rays by accident, and I really dig the patterns of light.

Those patterns are indeed cool. Backlighting on ice just makes it glow.

Ah, I just noted this was a Lensbaby. Shooting into light does that with those. Not sure why, but you get some great refraction!

Looks like you had a CD reflecting those rays into the image. It really offsets the ice nicely.

how perfect chris .. love the rainbow & bokeh .. thats just stunning .. the perfectly sharp icicle in the blur is brilliant . love the colours & lighting .. :)

I tried this in B&W, it does look nice but you loose the distinct light rays.

I'm a big fan of those light rays too! The dappled multicolored light is very lovely, though I bet this would look very dramatic in b&w too!

The light actually cascades down into the icy droplet.. and there it ends. Very poignant. It's as if you've captured the light and frozen it in time. Excellent!
