 Here's a redo of the Free Study 2008-11 brown ribbon by disturbed. I thought he had the right idea, but that there were serious technical flaws.


My photo is of the Hilton Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. A different building but the same idea, and I tried to stay true to the original composition. In doing so, I found an angle and crop that I otherwise might not have considered. Also, it was tempting to do this in black and white, but in the spirit of the challenge, I kept it in color. In fact, I tweaked the colors a bit to give it an old postcard feel (the building dates from the fifties). Beyond that, not much post-processing. I did use a potent USM, but I masked out some areas where the effect was unnatural.

I hate the title (or just don't get it) but I did find a twist on it. Thanks Maureen Theriot for your help on this one!

Didn't come up for me in voting, but i think I would have given it at least a 6. Very true to the original brownie, a lot more than the redo that scored higher. If I keep my eye in one place and scroll this image with my mouse's scroll wheel, it has a weird animated effect. I may need to take some motion sickness pills now...

WOW! To have two photographers/artist remake your image, what a great feeling.I like how the windows trail off into patterns. Excellent photo.
