Increased saturation to bring reds closer to what I remembered from the shot. I thought that the color was a bit flat.

Probably not doing so well as it is not really a portrait or a pet
Here is the wikipedia definition of a portrait:
A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.

Sorry, but a wild bird is NOT a pet, and this is a pet challenge. Nice wildlife shot, although its beak is behind a flower.

While this is a very nice picture, I cannot silence the voice in my head that is screaming "Shoehorn!". I'm not an extreme stickler for rules, but it is PET portrait, not "random animal portrait".
