Taken today after a protest in Seoul... unfortunately I couldn't stay for the whole time... looked like it was heating up though.

Basically... the government is destroying old housing here, and 6 innocent people were killed during a protest against deconstruction works last week... This is the aftermath.

Story

Note: I'm not making a stand either way for this issue, this is simply what I saw today... shots were taken within seconds of each other... High ISO because it was after dusk.

I like your combination of images. I'm wondering if the cops should be on the bottom... if they were active and angry, I'd get an oppressive message from them being on top, but because of their indifference, maybe they belong on the bottom.

quite a statement in so many ways & brilliant combo of images .
i find the guy who's looks like he's yawning the most interesting part of your image ..
ppl die, ppl fight but life goes on .. if we're not careful we get desensitized .. :)

Great combo. I hope the guys in uniform didn't object to having their photo taken. Putting them on top in the diptych may be making a subconscious statement. :-)

I think it's all been said already, but this is a great combination.

Very photojournalistic - worthy of being run in a paper, actually, just as it is.

Extremely powerful set of images; and what a great capture of the fellow in the upper image.

This combination tells a much more complete story than either one would have done by itself. (Sorry to be sounding so much like those who commented before me.) Well done!

Hey Dylan! : ) An excellent photo-journalistic shot/s. The combination of the two works really well together to get the story across.

I never thought that journalistic photography would work so well...and so artfully as a diptych. This is great stuff!

This is fantastic. Love how each picture tells a seperate story tied together at the same event.

These two complement each other wonderfully. I also really like the processing with the slightly muted color.
