 OK, I went with a very drastic edit. I've been playing with this since I posted the original and was finding it very difficult to come up with anything. I used Corel Painter, PSPX2 and photoshop. There are layers of oil paint, watercolors and pastels. They are blended with souped up layers of color in PS, actually I think I only used PSP to convert the paintings. I used masking to bring the birds back.

I really like what the filter did on the trees, but the birds do seems to get lost a bit, although I'm not sure what could be done about that.

Definitely nice work with the painterly effects - this is quite pretty! The processing really brought out the light in this well.

This is very impressionistic Kelli. I like the treatment you've done to this. The painter effect has really brought out the underlying colours in the leaves.

The "reverse silhouette" effect you've given the birds -- especially the bottom left -- remind me of Chinese/Japanese watercolor prints.

I think the painterly effect is really great! I especially like the multicolored leaves on the ground, those are awesome! This really does make the birds stand out more, well done!
