While holidaying up the north coast a family was picnicking near us in a park at the beach. Their gorgeous daughter, Willow, was running around playing with their dog and while we were eating came over to us to play with our puppies.

After dinner I was going to the car to get my camera to shoot for the 'sand' challenge and she was playing in the tree while her mother was taking pictures with her compact. The scene was so adorable that I asked her parents if they mind if I take some shots and they were delighted and agreed.

The title is the name of one of the fairies in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

PP: Topaz, NI & portraiture plugins on layers, a little gaussian to the BG. Enhanced eyes, bleached colours, cropped, added vignette, border, resize & save for web.

While this photo in and of its self would not be considered child pornography it is disturbing to me that a parent would let a complete stranger take their child's photo nude and then post it on a web site. If those parents knew what perverts do while looking at photos such as this I believe they would not have given you permission. I worked in law enforcement for 25 years and spent 18 years as a child abuse investigator and have seen what perverts do. Parents please think beyond the here and now...try to think about all the possiblities (positive and negative).

I am not a "nude prude". I believe nude can be art. I have a nude in my portfolio...but it is not a child...it is an adult. There are boundaries.

Sweet shot, processing, presentation. I guess I'm naive to a fault-- I can understand how this picture could be taken the wrong way but to me it seems very innocent. phylsy7 makes a good point but without you sharing that part of the story, the viewer is left to assume that you have a close relationship with the child and her parents. Dunno, can't really explain my reaction...

I have revisited this photograph a number of times over the course of the week, and here we are at the end I am still unsure about my feelings towards it. To be honest, I do find the photo somewhat unsettling. The effect of the pose and style of processing give the image a whimsical feel, part Cicely Mary Barker, part Midsummer Night's Dream, and yet at the same time there is a hint of knowingness, even of eroticism that I am very uncomfortable with. There seems to be something of a dichotomy within the image, and certainly in my reaction to it.

I wonder how the voters will take her being naked. I think it was risky and doesn't add anything to the shot. Perhaps it even takes away from her adorable face and that HAT.

One of my favorites for the challenge. The edit is subtle and very effective and overall the image invokes a very warm and pleasants response from me, the viewer. I do wonder if it will be received fairly by an element that may consider the nature of the subject disturbing and show their displeasure with a barrage of low, lower, lowest votes... I've always had a hard time relating to that mindset and look forward to seeing how this plays out.
