Challenge: Opposites (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: Chico,CA (my front porch)
Date: May 10, 2004
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/125s
Galleries: Nature, Macro
Date Uploaded: May 11, 2004

This catepillar was so testy (this was the shot with the least amount of movement). I should have increased my ISO to get a larger DOF and faster capture of the 'piller, but I wanted the crispness of ISO100. Oh well. Hopefully this is construed as an opposite, rather than an ironic or symbiotic, scene. Kit lens at 55mm, slight cropping for composition.

Thanks to all for the comments. This did better than I expected. I will heed the suggestions as deftly as I am able for the challenges to come.

Oh, and Nelzie, it's actually a not-so-old D-Link NIC. Nice guess tho'.

I think if you would of used a different background the creature would stand out more. Good focus and DOF.

Grissom, is that you? I like the idea, I'd prefer the worm to show up a bit more on the background, maybe even change the color of the background. Nicely focused on the part that's important. 9

1. Good idea
2. Like the colors

Negative
1. Too dark
2. Focus too shallow

This resembles an old Linksys NIC... I wonder if that's right.

Nice concept.

Nice macro, a little more DOF would have brought the catipllar in complete focue which I think would have made it look better. Part of the object is OOF as well.

Nice colors, composition and concept, but if you are going to go for a studio still life (sort of still anyway) and you don't nail the focus across a solid DOF it will cost you points. Other than the focus and the extranious gold triangle leading the eye off the lower right corner, a very nice shot.

Better if the bug were not black

A lighter background would have helped a lot with the caterpillar, although bugs on circuit boards are often hard to locate. the colors are a little garish for my taste.

A 5.
