Challenge: Opposites (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro

Aperture: F3.3
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1.5 sec

Built a little X out of wood, painted it black and taped two Aussie coins on. Put two more down on a black cloth, tried a bunch of exposures, and crops, and settled on this.

You can see where the "x" is by the black reflections on the coin that make the sides appear to be missing.

Photoshop is nothing but Image Size, Crop and USM and Levels to get the black background to blend in with the "x" This did cause some hot pixels which I don't know how to get rid of in basic editing. Ran it through Neat image at the end.

I also think this should have scored better. The concept and execution are very good. The DOF seems off one way or the other- either shallower DOF to simulate motion blur on the top coins or deeper DOF to get them in focus. You might crop a bit off the bottom, too. With those minor changes, I'd have given this an 8.

Nice setup - effective. Colors and black background very efective together.

Very fun idea to take a picture of the coin flipping as opposed to heads and tails of two different coins. Good focus on the first and last part of the flip.

OK, I'm just trying to figure out the trick of getting these four in a "single" shot! Vivat!
