The first illusion stems from the fact that the can of peas is really vertical. (The picture was not rotated...the camera was.) The imperfection is that you may be able to see one or both of the filaments holding up the globe (depending on your monitor's gamma). As to the bad pun, I would hope that it is obvious. The second illusion is, in my view, the notion that world peace can be obtained. This, unfortunately, is the second imperfection.

I was thinking "World Peas" when I did this, but a few people came up with "Peas On Earth." That works, too.

Peace on earth? Is that what you were going for here? It took me a minute of studyng it to come to that conclusion. Proof that taking time to study a picture can be enlightening. Great concept, thought out and executed. Technically the lighting is a bit too harsh, resulting in an overexposed portion. A lower wattage, or moving the light source further away would probably be an effective solution.
The black background works very well for contrast. Good luck in the challenge! Grayce aka Gracious

Someone has finally responded to the famous bumper sticker: "Visualize Whirled Peas!" This is the third entry (so far, including mine) containing the same allusion to a political illusion...I hope I'm sensing a trend...

I like the pun if it is Peace (peas) in the world. I also like the picture, especially the light location and the shadows. I think it is very good. How'd you do it?
10/29/2002 06:05:00 AM
world.... peas.... that's just bad. :D

it loaded finally - groaner of a pun. can I nit pick? is the base of the globe straigt? it looks tipped. I don't like the sadow of te pea can. the right of the globe is too light, it would work if the left of the globe were darker. 7

Very cool effect shot! My guess, the globe is on it's side. Darn good effect!
