that midframe shadow, placed so well..it makes the shot...the lines pull you right into the place. It also balances the vast nature of that sky!

The sky here and the mood it creates really makes the image. I think the photo is awesome- definitely in the style of Ansel Adams. Perhaps a good entry for "single tree" =D

Wonderful sky. The lines in this shot are really powerful. The tree feels a little overpowered by its surroundings.

Beautiful picture. Blurry clouds is not a feature you see in most Adams photos, he did not use much shallow DOF, maybe because the available equipment in those days did not allow for it.
