I did a lot of cloning, dodging and burning, curves and brightness and contrast. Copied the background and then set it to soft light. A lot of little editing steps.

I would have never guessed this came from the original - excellent job of editing. I wonder how this would look with a tad more brightness on the eyes, they seem to be begging for attention.

Love the close crop I'm looking into the eyes of a wise old soul

I like your choice of the up close and personal crop - really brings out this guy's personality!

Excellent job finding and bringing out an emotive portrait from what would probably be considered a snapshot by many.

You really brought out some personality in this gorilla. The close up crop suits it well.

Really nice job taking this from just an ordinary zoo shot to a very impressive and dramatic "in-your-face" closeup.

The original is nice, but your edited version has more impact. (And I'm not talking about punched in faces lol) I like the tight crop.

I like the tight crop, but would have adjusted it slightly to keep the rest of his chin in the shot. Also, I would up the contrast on the black and white conversion a bit... the image appears greyish to me, and could use more blacks.
