This is absolutely wonderful. I like the mixture of the snow and sunny sky, it gives the picture great depth. The tonal range captured is excellent with great preservation of details. The shadows are excellent leading lines and the subject of the boat is wonderful.

This is beautiful. I'm always in awe of things that go up against the sea, in repose. At rest from one powerful force it battles another with calm reserve, awaiting its true game in seasons to come.

You know one thing I noticed about Ansel, that I haven't seen in the challenge? He always seems to be looking up at everything. It conveys a kind of reverence.

This one evokes Ansel more than probably all the ones above it, but I still think you went overboard on the HDR. Sorry, but I read through two Ansel books prepping for this challenge. He is stuck in my head, and no picture yet in this challenge has gotten him unstuck.

I was interested to see which entry was yours Robert, considering you knew AA and thus his style so well. On the one hand I'm surprised this didn't score higher as I think the lighting, PP etc are spot on. On the other hand it's not the expansive canyons/mountains scene that I think some voters needed for them to vote high. IMO it's a great image tho.

Robert, I really liked this one(8) and the only thing that didn't feel right to me was the ultra level of detail(maybe it felt too tone mapped or something) That didn't hurt the image score wise for me but I wonder what others thought. Seeing your lack of comments, it is hard to tell. Hmmm...

Coming back to comment...
Beautiful image and processing. Gorgeous clouds, the snow/sand blend adds a great element of contrast. One of the best in the challenge, 10.
