This is the end of the pond season. Dragonflies still fly, but some attach themselves to something and do whatever they do before passing on - possibly lay eggs. The pond gets low, the muck abounds along with the detritus of whatever plants have taken hold from blown seeds or seeds brought by visiting mallards - this year arrowroot was added to the pondweed. Early to mid-afternoon is a good time to watch for dragonflies and other airborne insects.

Very little done to the photo: crop, adjust gamma and saturation, resize, sharpen, add border.

This shot looks a little dark, but that's probably about how the scene looked in afternoon light. I like the color saturation, and general earthy tones in this. I agree, that this one has probably laid it's eggs and is about to go to the big mosquito farm in the sky. I think that this is a Brown Hawker Dragonfly.

What a composition! Great vantage point, beuatiful colors and texture. The border adds nothing though.

Interesting composition. After the challenge is over, this would look great with some funky processing. It's dark, and dark images always suffer from "poor voter monitor calibration" syndrome.

I love the bubble on the leaf. I might've played with contrast and levels a bit to differentiate the tones. :~)

The angle doesn't do it for me.
