Yak! Composed well with the added benefit of a little birdy. The harsh lighting is not helping the image though, and a slight curves adjustment may help that.

First saw this on the Dell monitor at work & thought "snapshot." On the Sony laptop screen it looked kinda flat. But I didn't vote. I've been going slow, keeping in mind that every shot is someone's favorite of 2008. This morning, I saw it on the ViewSonic monitor at home, the screen I do my own editing on. I saw the bird! Right after that, it hit me. This is one of those rare photographs that is remarkable not for technical excellence or compositional brilliance or documentary professionalism (even thought it has all of that) but for its impact. I'm voting it a 10 because of the afterimage it created in my memory, the thoughts it inspired me to think. Thank you!

the gaze of the animal, his pal hanging out and waiting for the next fly to show up - all nice components

the brightness of the light steals a bit of the details away and the grasses in the bottom far left are a bit distracting to the image

I am a hair dresser and I often ask my clients "you don't want water buffalo hair do you?"...a bit more with the curves.
