An eagle at Portage Glacier. I had a couple of choices for best of 2008 but I love birds, birds of prey in particular. Eagles go over well here and this one is better than the hawks I have, so I am back to eagles.

Not much editing - curves, sharpen (with a mask this time - did it work?), think that's about it. I know it would score better here with a lot of editing, but I prefer not to. Well, maybe as I stare at it longer, I'll change my mind... How this looks is dependent on your monitor. On my two home monitors, which show all blocks below an image, it looks good. On my cheap work monitor, which doesn't show the difference in the four whitest and two blackest boxes, the head is slightly blown. Oh well...

Title taken from Eagle's Song, "Early Bird."

seems like a bit of the detail is lost on the top part of his head. i might have gotten rid of that pinkish background, its a bit distracting from the bird itself.

What a dramatic pose. He looks kinda crowded on the top. Maybe his stern look is because the ceiling of photo frame is too low. Great focus.

nice intense pose and good sharpness of focus - the crop seems a bit tight at the top - having a bit more space up there might provide it a bit less 'closed' feel
