 This is probably not your usual "life" photo. But I marvel at how life keeps growing and reproducing in the desert - truly against all odds, in unbelievable heat and harsh dryness. To me this is representative of life with all its adversities.

This cactus is about 16 feet tall, and probably very old - I'd stab at about 80 years. The color was quite boring, being a desert plant and all - and the sky was its usual brilliant/boring blue - so I chose to process this in BW for a bit more drama.

Even so - without people, a baby's hand, or a bounding dog, I doubt it will do very well.

I love the lines of the cactus as a repeating pattern. Absolutely wonderful choice in b/w.

The focus to me looks very good but I think it might have looked better in color - perhaps?
