This is the first photo I have taken with my new camera. I have really tried to do it properly, putting a white sheet behind the subject and liningit up right, so I hope it looks scary!

Good idea, well executed. How about a cracklin' fire? LOL...just kidding. I think it's an amusing photo, but the rug isn't really necessary, and actually takes away from the realism. This is just my opinion, but I think the snail would stand out better away from the fireplace. Perhaps on the couch, or just on the bare floor. As far as composition, tilting the camera up a bit would have included the entire lamp without the top being cut off. The cushion in the front right corner serves no purpose and is out of focus.
On the up side....the lighting is good, showing a fair amount of detail. Dpth of field works fine, once the afore mentioned cushion is gone. Watch your angles...the fireplace and lamp are tilted.
I'd like to see this with a few changes. The idea is good, just pay attention to details. I sincerely hope this is a help. Good luck in the challenge. Grayce aka Gracious

I love it! My only complaint is that there is a little too much "floor" on the bottom of the picture. Other than that, great job! 8/10
