About the edges: Look folks, I don't often get real artsy with my photos so when I do, I reserve the right to maintain my "rough around the edges" personality. :)
Seriously though, I do like to hear if you love 'em or hate 'em. Tact is not a requirement. Your village is safe.
I like the photo, but the edge doesn't really do much for me. It doesn't feel like a natural addition, border wise. But this is a cool use of a lensbaby.
Alfred Hitchcock would be proud! You should do more ARTsy stuff. Keep the edge!
I mentioned alfred on the lampost pic but Mr R, this is sooo much better (and that was good), go on, fess up and say you have a new bird brush lol.
I think your going along the right lines with the border but sadly its not up to the standard of the image, other than that this is a sublime image and as has been pointed out before, maybe Mr R is an artist deep down.
Creepy good!
But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered- not a feather then he fluttered-
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before-
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said, "Nevermore." ~EAP~
There are certain images that are just immediate mood provokers and this is one. It's a cold lonely winter day yet the birds are still flying, which gives hope that the other living things will be back soon. It has a mystery about it as well. The bleakness of the bare trees/shrubs and the cold icy gray blue just makes us want to hunker down in the security of our home and gaze out the window at this wintery scene. Going to favs, man. WOW - I'm so prolific today. LOL
They're not all that precise. Of course, that's their charm. This is bloody good.
Edges suck. Perhaps I could have put that a little more tactfully ... you know what a diplomat I am normally.
And, in the isolation of the sky, at evening,
casual flocks of pigeons make
ambiguous undulations, as they sink
downward to darkness on extended wings.
— Wallace Stevens
Magical image, Art. But lose the edge treatment, it isn't helping you at all.
There's the possibility I like this one even better. I like the spacing and placement of the tall skinny trees and I like the blues you've used in both this one and the other one.
Oh, this is super dooper. I love how the melting away of the birds as they edge out of the frame lends such a sense of calm serenity. Wonderful icy blues and stark trees really help to set this in the season.
