Hi Sharon,

Greetings from the Critique Club...

Congrat on your best score to date!

You've emphasised the "new" here in your fine shot. Reading the comments I have to agree that in terms of composition, you've told a great story with the position of your two subjects. You have the basis of a shot that would benefit from a bit of post-processing.

I would agree with many of your commenters about boosting the contrast to remove the hazy aspects. I would add that the fence, while it adds a "touch of the farm" is too bright and competes for my attention. Dulling or blurring this element even more than it already is would force my eye to stay on your sweet scene.

I look forward to more of your lovely countryside as seen by your photographic eye.

If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

Regards,
Theresa

Lovely motion in this shot, but the muted colors detract a bit.

Needs some contrast. Try a high pass sharpen.

I think that extra glare is caused by the sun? Shame because it's a really nice shot.

I would prefer a bit more contrast in the horse's face (perhaps a catchlight).

Nice catch! Looks a tad on the hazy side, like the histogram could have been adjusted in post-processing or something like that. But it's a beautiful shot.

Beautiful composition. I think it's a bit overexposed as it feels washed out near the top of the horse's back. That's a nit-pick though as this really is an enjoyable image.

Great DOF...this seems a little foggy and you might have wanted to use a polariser for the clearest image.

A bit low contrast, which is tough not to do when shooting into the sun, but this is the shot I tried to get (roughly) for this competion, and it is much better than anything I got. Sweet capture.

Great shot, composition, lighting and DOF are excellent

Completely adorable. I would have adjusted the levels on the entire photo to darken it a bit though.

Good light, finally - so many people seem to think its enough to just get a shot of an animal, with no thought to other elements of the scene. Not sure about the moment you've chosen though - mother seems more interested in food than her offspring, and the crossing of the two seems a little awkward, compositionally.

looks to be overexposed...

That little one hardly looks big enough for a bridle! Nice shot

This definitely comes across as a springtime shot. The mix of white fence, green grass, and tan horses compliment each other well. The detail and exposure of the horses are good. The composition is good, although I'd be tempted to try a different crop - a little off the right side to get rid of the black pole and the top until the gap above the fence is gone, and the faded line at the bottom - which I think would center in on the horses more.

Beautiful shot - try increasing the contrast (maybe play with curves) a little. Just seems a little washed out. May need to check the calibration on your monitor.

How beautiful this image is. You were fortunate to have this scene the first time you photographed horses and you certainly handled the situation well.

great animal shot. A bit hazy... maybe adding a bit of contrast would help

Aww very cute. Technically it needs a level and contrast boost.
