I had heard about this on our campus but had never seen it. They say if you see it on finals week you will make straight A's... too bad I saw it after I had finished all mine.

What a cute little fellow! He makes you just want to hold out a bit of treat in an outstreched hand and coax him on down the tree to be a fuzzy little friend. I'd never seen an albino squirrel before, but back in my dorm-days there were a whole bunch of (quite fat!) squirrels that loved to hang around the cafeteria doors and eat offerings straight out of students' hands. We'd often snatch an extra cookie or ice cream cone or the like on the way past the dessert table in order to have a decent present to place in their little outstreched faces. Those campus squirrels must have had the highest cholesterol in all of Louisiana! Anyway, thanks for sharing such a unique shot. That dear little face brought back pleasant memories--always my favorite kind of pictures!
How did this not win? What's newer and different
than an albino squirrel? I know I've never
seen one before. As I'm sure hardly anyone has.
Is it because the picture wasn't shot well?
No. The squirrel is very clearly shot, close-
up in vivid color. Sure the
leaves above it are above it are blurred. But that's
negative space. trivial.
8th is great but you deserved even higher.
Clint, top ten is not bad, congratulations. Your patience paid off. It's one of those photographs that just have to be taken. Again, congratulations! This goes straight to my favorites.
I wanted to thank everyone who voted me high, I stood around this tree for three hours because someone had spotted him there, right when I had given up and put my camera away he comes running out of the nest, glad I didn't leave.

Ain't never seen that before. Nice focus with lovely boken. Plus marks for not sharpening to the point that the wiskers get jangly, a pet peeve of mine.
Great shot. You can see every hair, and the expression on its face is priceless. This squirrel seems to be studying you, and not liking what it sees. Tracking down an albino squirrel must difficult to start with, and getting this good a shot even more so.
Hmmm ... nice shot! I heard something a couple years ago about albino squirrels in a certain neighbourhood in Toronto; I wonder where this picture was taken. Are there albino squirrels in other places too?
Great capture. Now I know why they say squirrels are like rats. If you look at his head, it looks just like one! (Well a lab rat anyway.) Nice composition and shot, and DOF. A few hot spots on the back of the squirell, but overall well exposed and captured.
