I can honestly say that I have now looked at more "Fire & Ice" shots than I ever care to again, and I have rated only one above a three. The focus lines in this piece are very ambiguous, and the ice is underplayed to the point of detrimental to the shot. I just don't think it emphasises the ice enough to reach a very bold statement of "opposites".

Great idea, and I know it was a difficult shot to get, but detail/clarity seems to be lacking.

The coloring is nice, although I don't think I would have been able to recognize the ice cube if the title hadn't defined it.

Nice picture...however, I do not think it clearly shows "opposites" as the ice looks (to me, anyhow) like a cake pan....

Looks a lot like the shot I did. Your score is probably getting hammered a lot like mine too. Maybe we should have had a fire and ice workshop...

One of several fire and ice entries. Rather abstract but pleasant.

Absolutely the best "fire and ice" picture in this challenge. Very well performed.

Wow, that's a lot of fire, hope nobody got hurt! Good idea as you probably figured out by all the other fire and ice entries. This shot seems off and the rull of thirds doesn't really apply either and the flames going off the edges bother me just a bit, I would reallly have liked to seen them all or maybe a tigher crop so the ice is centered more and it's surrounded by flames with no negative space, let me get my trusty envelopes and see! :)

WOW! that made a difference, I put the envelopes on the sides and bottom, leaving the top as is and it really made the shot jump out more! I started with a 3 on this but am raising to a 7, would love to see it if you decide to recrop!

i like the way the flames came out. theyre really surrounding the ice cube.

Superbly done version of the common take on this challenge.

Great effect!! like the foto, but the ice is not that visible but sufficient to understand!

Interesting, but not enough sharpness in the ice to really make it obvious as a subject.

Interesting..

would have preferred more detail in the flames and better focus/lighting on the ice, but good superposition

Awesome shot... and I thought a few of the other Fire and Ice shots were good... This one takes the cake in my book.

The ice seems a little soft, but I assume that is from the heat distortion. Very nice. 7.
