 Built in flash with -2 setting and Gary Fong defuser. The orchid was in a shaded greenhouse. The flash brightened the flower and darkened the background.

I had fun trying the fill flash on various subjects in various settings, inside and outside, shade and sun. It was a good exercise.

I don't know what type orchid this is.

Converted from RAW, reduced noise, adjusted offset and gamma slightly in an exposure layer, USM, reduced noise a second time. Resized, added border, saved for web.

I suspect some saw this more as a main flash rather than a fill, but I'm pleased to see you enjoyed the exercise and learned something from it - I'm too initimated to try flash for anything other than office award presentations, which no one here will ever see! Lovely flower - I do like the way it sparkles!
