Just perusing your portfolio after that great Christmas Wish List thread you started and this photo caught my eye. What a great shot. Color, DOF, perspective...you got everything right with this shot. I wasn't on DPC when this challenge occured but you got robbed my friend. I definately would have given you a 10!

Date was off on my camera. I solved the problem by buying a new one.

*shrug*

There were lots of forum posts about it - solid proof that you took the photo in the limit is NOT proof that the photo is legal. Only Exif matters. Repeat after me - ONLY exif matters.

I'm glad you reposted this one! I love how sharp and colorful the snail is, and on the red track--this one IS a winner, ribbon or not!

Melismatica - your comment is under hbunch's post. Comments were attached to the Dq'd photo - this is just a photo in my portfolio now.

heather very nicely and wonderfully copied ALL my challenge comments onto this new photo. :)

It's a shame this was disqualified. I don't get why exactly. I thought it was a great shot and I [i]know[/i'] I commented on it dammit, so where's my comment? Does the original submission with all its comments get eighty-sixed if it's DQ'd? I tried to make a post to the thread re: this but it was locked. I'm a newbie (and ADHD) so I don't get all the rules yet.

Well you better keep em away from me lol For some reason when I was five years old I used to think it was cool to disect them with my next door neighbour. Hey I was young lol

Wow that is great that you have sold so many lol Do you know to? You so do have a record lol I mean, first off how many people sell a print less than an hour of them uploading it, and to sell so many in one day lol You are slowly getting to that DSLR :)

Does he have a name? lol For some odd reason I think he looks like a Freedy :p

How many sales have you made on this one so far?

I know i have said it before, but who would have ever expected a photo of a snail to be so damn good lol To make some ugly into a beautiful photo is definitely magic :)

Great shot mavrik. Nobody gave me nice litle blue ribbons as comments on my blue ribbon winning photo that suffered from the date error being off by one exact year. It's a real pity it had to happen to such good people!

bloody hell, that blows goats. I just waded through the threads...I don't think you should have been dq'd, but its a moot point since I'm not SC

whagerbaumer-Lovely snail, I believe yoo wanted background to imply huge distance at a snail's pace, Unfortunately, it distracts from a great macro of the snail.

ivash-Absolutely love it, excellent dof, perfect composition. First gave it 9, but the more I look at it... 10

melismatica-This is about the cutest snail I've ever seen. You can actually imagine him thinking, "Ugh! That's a loooong way!". Good use of negative space to show distance. You kept the background nice and simple and the snail is placed off-center. I really enjoy this shot!

vonautsch-Wonderful focus, color, and detail. Most of all, very funny.

scrum8-Neat photo. Good use of DOF. Nice color contrast and clarity.

andy_ro-poor snail ;)

Bibliophile-Great colors and depth of field. Poor thing...

dhare-hehe nicely done :-).. snail is a great contrast to the red track

caba-My top pick, excellent color and DOF, snail is sharp.

amblaine-Cute

sailracer_98-Very nice. I like the vibrant color, but would have preferred a bit more depth of field. I think having the entire forground in focus would have helped.

kevintufts-Perfect.

Cheerz-Great Shot... nice colours... 7

gpierson-i like the idea -very creative-the colors have a nice saturation-not sure if shot screams proportion

Natator-Fun and good use of shallow DOF

theodor38-GREETINGS FROM "happy world of criticism club by mehmet":

what a stunning image, first of i really like the colors and the DOF.. and this composition is just pure genius. first i gave you a 9, perhaps i couldnt accept it is better than my submission, but time to face the truth for me, i am rasiing i to a 10, and it prolly deserves the top spot. congratulations on an excellent shot...

"a better world through subjective criticism"

danrivera-Nice Color

goodman-nice image

photom-Nice specimin. Great use of color. Composition right on.

lolly_gagger-This is the winner!

kcg-Nice Pic, nice layout, but there is something to this pictures that makes my lower my score by 1 (still recieving a high score though)

Shakey-Nice humor, color and good capture of proportion

Go-KL-Great idea, well shot. The thumbnail looks fake, but the bigger seems ok.

hughletheren-Clever use of DoF!

menardmam-Best idea yet ! WOW

loz1-OMG I love this image. Poor little guy, its gonna take him a while to get there lol

This image is so funny :)

This was the DQ'd shot in Proportion - thanks to all for discussing it, ad nauseum!
