Not as good as the one posted by bobonacus but this is my first attempt and my excuse is his lens is bigger than mine!!

Lovely clear night here and taking a shot of the moon is actually harder than I realised (unless im doing it wrong!) I kept having to change my setting as it seemed to get brighter every few seconds

Very nicely done, I've never been able to take a good shot of the moon.

I like the way you can actually see the curve along the surface here.

That is truly awesome! I've never gotten a moon shot to come out even half way decent.

Yeah I used the 300mm. I found my first few shots were really bright as I thought I would have to use a long exposure! Also you realise while shooting the moon just how much it actually moves through the sky.

Thanks for all the great comments I am really proud of this and am amazed at the detail you can get with just a normal camera, I would love to get my hands on a telescope to look at the moon as its something I have never done, Its a fascinating surface.

No excuses needed, this is a fine shot on it's own and a lot different than what he did. I like that negative space - it seems like the moon is moving into it. This is much better than my first several attempts at moonshots!

I like how clearly you captured this, and it works that it's not such as close up image as the other. Just as beautiful, just different, and different is good :)

Good depends on what you are shooting for. This is fine as you have it, with the neg space allowing the moon to look like it is just hanging in nothingness. You may want to try this during the daytime, not too long after sunrise or before sunset, and you can get a sweet blue sky behind it. Another trick is to use tungsten WB at night for sky shots.

Beautiful! Which lens did you use, btw? I'm impressed a shot this good didn't require a telescope!

Don't succumb to lens envy ;-) This is crisp and clear and detailed; what more could you want?

Great job. I like all of the negative space. Makes it have that galaxy feel.
