This is another of my paper images. I used strips of paper which I formed so they flowed around the ball.
The red ball is a Christmas decoration.
Light from below, but as the red ball was a little dark I used a torch (Flashlight) to briefly add some light to the top.

Peter, you're a machine! Gorgeous image, bordering on the surreal. Congratulations!

I think Shot #3 would have placed higher, given the strictness of "back lighting" with which this shot was judged. But I love the shot anyway. Congrats!

Didn't vote, but at a glance I could see why some people would not have considered this being backlit (their 'glance' not mine), given the large, specular highlight on the front of the ball which pretty much says "guess where the light source was". Could be why you got such an unusual number of 2's.

I don't usually enjoy DPC style studio set up shots, but for this and the others you've shown I will definitely make an exception. Your images work well as art and I've loved looking at them, thank you :)

I was pleased with how this image came out.
Thanks for the comments & good votes.
A lot of low votes on this one. 20 under 5. Quite a flat curve.
I started with another concept which didn't work & proceeded to this.
Here are a couple of outtakes.
More can be seen in my gallery here.

3. I nearly used this one as I thought it would show the back lighting better.

4. For those who like bright colours.

Pretty paper staging and technically fine. This image is one of the few that relies on backlighting for its impact.
