One of the things (which I've not done much of!) this month was try some new stuff so this is an experiment! Shot at dusk, the sun has set behind the clouds and there is just a little light left. Stood the speedlight off to one side near the trees and fired it via remote trigger.

I think it's kinda cool, the light could be better by positioning the flash better (ie less harsh on the left and more on the right) but an interesting experiment for me.

I agree about the slight harshness to the left but for just trying something new I think this really turned out nice!! Really like the composition.

Striking and well-composed. The sky is just right, with the long horizontal bright area splitting the image into very dark foreground below and darker sky above. The upper sky retains just enough gradation of light to be interesting. The cluster of trees contrasts well with the uniformity of the other areas, and the stark artificial light provides a different contrast with the natural light, while bringing out detail and color that is pleasing even while harsh. Good choice of vantage point to have no obvious buildings cluttering up the image.

This is very cool! Nice experiment. Keep doing this! Didn't know a speedlight could give so much light.
