Right now I'm experimenting with layering the image on itself. I used layer mask & apply image & curves with blending modes to heighten the contrast before I used a BW adjustment layer. Then I flattened it & applied a filter to the BG black only, to pick out the little bits of light & blend some of the outside edges. I don't have any texture layers in this one. I liked the mixture of sharp edges & smooth surfaces in this leaf & tried to emphasize that. I shot it by window light on the kitchen table, using a piece of black fabric for a BG. The black fabric served as a 'black bag' for my Dad back in the olden days of film.
Beautiful. Your processing adds a lot of interest to this. I like the simple composition. Such a simple composition is often the perfect solution for a complex shape.
You did a great job with the textures and lighting, and the patterns and shapes draw me into closer examination of what's there. It's not a stereotypically pretty leaf, but it appeals to me nonetheless.
