been taking a lot of macros in the long grass near the house .. its like a treasure trove of very small insects .. also its spring here now and in the early morning or when its cloudy and bit colder the insects will let you approach and take their picture .. when its warmer they're a lot more flighty ..
this is a monarch butterfly and i've been wanting to photograph one of these for days but its been too warm and i havent been able to get close enough .. close enough is about 5 inches away .. they usually dont let you within a couple of feet before they fly away so this little butterfly is my friend .. lol..

if you view the full-size image its a whole heap sharper ..

I have never seen a cross-eyed butterfly before. That is cool.

We take these little critters for granted. But it's not until you see them this close up that you realise how intricate they really are. Great shot Rozy.
P.S. I'm mowing the grass on the weekend.....lol just kidding!!!

Wonderful shot Roz. Colors, comp, background... I've caught plenty of monarchs in my youth, but never really looked at one this closely.

Wow Roz! This is the coolest butterfly shot,, ever! I never knew that they had hairy little eyeballs LOL. That's a good trick to catch them when it is cold out. That's even better than wearing a butterfly disguise. : )
