Great shot. The noise isn't that big of an issue to me, mostly because it is more noticeable in the background and not on the subject. The shutter speed is a nice compromise between stopping all the droplets in the air and still letting some motion into the photo. A tad bit of the elbow seems to be chopped off though. |

Nice action show. Great capture with the face. I agree with the noise. Is this photo cropped very much? |

Love the action of the hand and the movement of the water, it really shows how hard this athlete was swimming. |

Nice capture, I like the sharpeness on your subject's face and the sense of motion we get from the blurred hand, completed by a good composition. |

I really like this, the motion of his arm with the clearness of his face and the water works well. I like the framing of the lane markers as well.
As for noise I ran a noise ninja pass @ strength 5, smothness 5 with the usm @ 50% @ 1.2px on the whole image and then just a quick selection of the lane marker and the water above it and ran another pass @ strength 10, smothness 10 and usm 0 and then another quick selection on his hand... |

That's a great action shot, captured at the perfect moment. The noise isn't terribly bad - did you try to remove it? |

great capture. I would love to try to photograph competitive swimming! I don't know if you've "fixed" the noise, in this, but it is barely noticeable to me |

Great shot Chris - I think the noise in this is more than acceptable - what with the poor lighting and an ISO setting of 1600 |

VEry hard to shoot at swim meets. I could never get a good shot. This looks real good though. Something you might see in the local sports section of the newspaper. |

The excellence of the shot overides any noise problem IMHO :) |

shame about the lighting chris, but an excellent shot even with the grain .. love the motion blur and the way the wave is being pushed in front of her ... :) |

Excellent capture! It is frustrating to shoot in poorly lighted venues, but you have managed to capture the essence of this swimmer's power and drive to win. |

hiya Chris!! cool action shot, look at the water coming off the left hand & moving ahead of the swimmer...that is cool! hmm...great lens, have ya considered it might be the CAMERA making all the noise? hehehe

Fantastic action shot! You can really feel the power of those strokes! The noise is nominal I think, and doesn't detract at all from the main focus of the shot. |

I like the motion blur of the arm while the rest of the shot is so clearly focused. It gives the feel of a race. An interesting thing to me is how much his/her? mouth looks like a fish mouth. |
