 After they built the famous Three Gorges Dam, the level of Yangtze river in this area went up 150 m (and will go up another 25). So a lot of people (~1.5 million by official statistics) had to be relocated, roads and bridges, and whole cities built anew. This is one of literally dozens of new bridges we passed on our way up the river. The scale of this project is mind-boggling

Lovely!
Great sense of depth with the fading mountains and tha chap in the boat draws the eye back down. Lovely lines and superb in b&w

Read John Hersey's book, A Single Pebble. I lived in China a while ago... years ago in fact, and took a trip up this river from Wuhan to Chongqing before going overland. It was a memorable journey, long before China opened its doors.

This is fantastic, Lev! Perfect light. Love the layers of the hills in the background and having the boat included gives us an idea of the grand scale of the place! : )

Great title for a beautiful shot. I love the receding mountains. That arch really does look like a rainbow disappearing into the shadows.

The layer depth you have on this shot is absolutely superb, with the focus of the bridge and the guy in the boat it's great.
