As usual, I tend to go for strong perspectives. This shot was an awful lot of detail to pack into 720 pixels, but I think I've improved my sharpening techniques recently and was able to pull it off.
Pre-challenge notes:
Maybe a mid-5? Not sure about this one. Some may find it too processed for street photography. On the other hand, overprocessed normally does well here. My expectation is that a variety of personal definitions of this topic will result in the comments being both positive and negative on the same aspects of the image. My wife prefers this one to my outtake. My theory is that my wife's preference and judgment runs counter to overall DPC trends, and her choice is the one that will do poorly. This ought to be interesting.
Post-challenge notes:
A little disappointing, and during the challenge I thought it may have been that my approach was not "streety" enough. I see from the results that many higher rated entries were obviously staged shots and some were even further from the concept of street photography than mine was. My conclusion is that my choice of processing did not have sufficient impact to do better.

Steve, coming back to this one, I totally understand why Pawdrix asked the WAYSMTP question. To me this image is more about the surroundings and less about the person. I think the point is, typically the person should be the main subject. From my point of view, I also wondered during this challenge if perhaps this was a set up. There were a lot of set ups in the street challange, which I found particularly irritating and disappointing as it took away from the whole essence of the challenge. (And for what it's worth, I got a lot of those WAYSMTP comments during the side challange)
Really nice lines and composition overall. The picture is a little static as far as emotion, but the technicals and lines are spot on. Good shadows too.
Not sure if it's my old age, monitor, or what, but the image feels a little soft. Compositionally it's fine. I like how the camera is lower than just normal standing height to take the shot.
