All of a sudden I have noticed a huge amount of these wasp type creatures on the firetrail. I'm not sure what they really are. They look like some type of hornet but Australia doesn't have hornets. Can anybody shed some light on their identity. There must have been hundreds flying all around.

Excellent detail and color. I like the "brass" frame. And I like the bright center and dark surrounding background.

Great detail, very nice bokeh. You really nailed this one. It's spot on!

Greg tanks for the tips, the picture is just lovely, I like how the greens complement the yellows on the bee (or wasp)

this is amazing .. the wasp is perfect in every way .. all the focus concentrated just on her/him .. I LOVE THE BORDER .. and i'm usually not all that keen on the larger more dramatic ones .. this one seems just about metallic and it really makes your photograph pop inside it especially with the inner vignette .. the colours are stunning .. brilliant shot and process .. :) .. WOW .. !!..:)

Very pleasing presentation and excellent composition on this beauty.
Actually, I rather like this framing - um, maybeee just a touch darker,
but still, it's good looking.

The wasp is beautiful, and I like the rich colours of the picture. The frame, IMO, takes away from this richness.

I'm amazed you got so much of this guy with such great detail at f/3.5. I like the border in your other similar shot better as it just has less harsh contrast with the whole composition imho. Again, I really can't get over how sharp this guy is from his back to his legs with such shallow DOF. Nice job.

I like the wasp, but I'm really not a fan of the processing or the frame. You have good focus on the eye, and great detail. That 100 is a fantastic lens.
