Challenge: Free Study 2008-10 (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-30D
Lens: Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro DX
Date: Oct 27, 2008
Date Uploaded: Oct 17, 2008

This was shot with the lens I purchased from Brad on behalf of SDW. Just wanted to take a couple of quick shots with no real purpose but to shoot. Rowan was hanging by the window so i shot her. And when I opened it up in PS i pretty much fell in love with it. Not a DPC kind of shot at all but my walk through DPC is changing (hopefully).

Editing is RAW conversion (with a heavy slant to contrast), Super Fun Happy Action tweaked on all of the layers (awesome action - I have way too much fun with it), high pass, NI, healing and some dodge and burn, resize, USM, border.

Great shot, I really like how the outside has this mysterious feeling. Should have scored higher. Great job.

Her face is a little too smoothglow, but everything else about this photo is perfect... the look on the model, the way the window ledge drops off into an abyss of pure darkness, the cleaved composition. I don't know how you shrank Aimee the Too and put her on a windowledge, but it worked!

This almost has a sinister feel to it. I like the half light/dark aspect of it.

She stood there, proudly displaying her dexterity, her tiny feet perched precariously on the ledge, her hands gripping her lifeline. Sure, to someone bigger, the drop was insignificant. Sure, to someone with more experience in life, the achievement wouldn't be worth noting.

To her, however, shining in the light of the morning, facing the shadows of the uncertainty of the future, it was a monumental moment. Climbing to that small but significant perch, showing off her growing abilities.

She stood there, proudly, and so she should.
