After work I went out to the garden & started breaking off branches of my tomato plants so hopefully the tomatoes will redden up before it frosts. I grabbed one branch & ripped it off & then saw this really bright green THING hanging onto the branch, low & behold it was a hornworm!
God only knows how this will do, some will say it's not "wildlifey enough" or what-have-you. Hopefully some of you like this, comments (as always) are more than welcome.

Alright! A new PB! I was really hoping for a top 10, but a new PB & 15th in a challenge like this is FINE by me! :) Thanks for all the comments & votes. Glad there were some hornworm lovers out there! ;)

I don't think many would argue with you in general but this challenge was pretty clear on it if you read the challenge description. Regardless, DPC should just get rid of the descriptions. Nobody reads them anyway.

I took the challenge description to be giving an example of wildlife, not to mean only those species specifically listed.

Well I guess that rules out fish too huh, since they're also animals not mentioned in the description?

But two out of the top three being not in their natural environment was ok though??

I really liked this shot too - congrats on a great finish especially with a subject that didn't meet the criteria. You fared a lot better than the shots people thought were in a zoo.

Out of the top 10 but still a great shot which I voted a full 10 on. Ok not an animal in the strictest sense but still a living creature. Are humans animals by the way? Sometimes they do classify dont they.:)
I know the rules were quite clear and insects were not mentioned.

I would have voted this higher but since it's technically an insect, I am posting a lower vote. It is a nice image. 5

""wildlife" should be considered non-domesticated mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians living in a natural environment"

Sorry... I don't think this meets the challenge...althought I really think it's well done... and the bokeh is very pretty.

Nice, I like the light on the caterpillar and shallow DOF.

Nice shot but DNMC "For the purpose of this challenge, "wildlife" should be considered non-domesticated mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians living in a natural environment." not voting
