 A transparent and amber colored glass vase,
on its side on a piece of blue paper,
covered by a white curtain.
A 150 W halogen light shining from the top of the vase through the curtain towards the camera,
to give a nice even light distribution. This also minimises the visible bubbles in the glass.
The camera was looking at an angle through the bottom of the vase.
The large bubble you see is actually the bottom of the opening where the water normally is in.
I was amazed by the large variety of colors produced through this combination and really like all the colorful flows while still having a strong shape as key in the composition.
The possibilities were endless but this ended up to be my favorite.

Editing :
Crop, cloning of some bubbles and streaks in the glass, curves, resize, unsharp mask, save for web.

I thought this would be up in the top ten percent ... but still it's a very fine photograph especially after I read your description ... very well planned and executed. And at least you didn't get a one or a two.

Very interesting shapes. and a lumious image. It is a riot of colour and it is quite unidentifiable. Definitely abstract.

This picture sums up what the challenge was about to me....using shape, colour and lighting to produce an interesting but unrecognisable image.
