Post Challenge: You know..reading the comments it didn't occur to me that most of the voters took this photo as a joke..I thought it was a serious attempt at "Suburbia"..and as a photographer the humor here went over my head.

Sidenote: when I attempt humor at DPC...99% of the time it fails..so I will try to stay away from humor when the situation dictates a needed high score (Side Challenges and the such)..in a previous the Work Challenge I failed with Humor..needing to reach a low average score to perhaps win or prolong the BTA Tournament. DPC is a learning site.. I learned a big lesson here...only a few people can pull off humor in a challenge...sometimes I do it, and don't even know it...but again as i said, I will try to avoid it in the future...lol

Perfect example of what is found in suburbia. This is something I never would have thought of but see all the time.

I really like this photo. The sky holds my interest with it's shades of grays and the way it lights the sign at the bottom. I like the holes in the metal, leading the eye up to the very important message to slow down. A minor quibble might be to lighten the sign face a bit, but, it might add little to the overall composition.

Its a shame that that neighborhood has slow children.

Lovely editing and desat and clear focus but, I'm not sure that it's got the pizzazz that it may need??? Not sure on what to say here that would help.

Hmmm. Looks like quite a fast child, really.

Doesn't look like a slow child, does it. You have got good lighting on that without any flash glare and that wouldn't be easy with the sun behind the sign.

Its hard not to laugh when you read that. The pop of the color against the gray sky is perfect!

Don't ya always feel sorry for the children in a neighborhood with a sign like this...

They always think they're 'slow'. And everyone knows "slow children" aren't as smart as the smart ones. *grin*

A good take on 'suburbia'. I like the composition and the processing.

But, I still feel so sorry for those children... *grin*

I'm back to bump you up.

Those darn slow children. They better speed up! Very iconic choice.

Nice image - Nice simple study - Like the clouds. Maybe a slightly more dynamic view of the sign could have added some more interest.

I wish they weren't "slow children".
