Contrary to other opinions, I rather like the placement of the focus in this. The juxtaposition between sharp and soft seems to keep my eye wandering, exploring. The Bee's shadow and the detail in the wing are two touches I find particularly attractive. |

Lovely detail and color. I like the very cheerful feel of this sunny image. The composition is great. The clarity of that glassy wing is excellent. |

Another really fine bee shot.
I know we look a bit funny chasing bees & bugs around with our cameras
but they don't seem to mind, and the results are often spectacular.
Like this one. |

I feel the same way as Mark-A. The choice of you angle for this shot brings the bee AND parts of the outer paddles in focus. Making the viewer switch between the flower and the bee back and forth. I do like how you captured the contrast between the bee and the bright flower. One more suggestion: get a almost transparent shower curtain, one with no colors in it, so it's not changing the color temperatur too much. Get this curtain between the sun and your flowers. This will diffuse the straight and harsh light of the sun. Then you won't see the hard white reflections of the sun on the bee any more and the shadows will be softer as well. I found real diffusers sometimes 'eat up' too much light ;) |

This is lovely and crisp, personally I would have liked to see the focal plane ever so slightly back a bit this would have put the whole of the Bee in focus rather than half the flower and half the Bee which kind of has my eye darting around a little rather than just settling on the Bee. Still a very nice shot though and the colour of the flower is wonderful. |
