I agree with the others about the focus issue, but the colors here are just outstanding. This reminds me of Christmases from a long time ago. I bet the Fractalius filter could create some neat effects with this one.
I think this was a great idea and you did it very well. It looks pretty tricky to get the lighting to match well, but I think you pulled that off.
Once I got over my initial impression I felt that the candy in focus in the foreground stands out quite a bit more than the blurred candy behind it. If you can make the candy in the foreground come into focus in the same way that the candy in the background goes out of focus I think the composition would have been better.
I think the red border is a mistake though. The red seems to harsh and distracting. I would go with something more subtle.
Overall, this looks a bit tricky, and I think you did a great job.
Interesting take using the composite idea. I'm not so sure how I feel about having the OoF plane separating the two images. Normally focus stacking would include detail throughout the entire image, or at least bring an entire area into focus while still leaving the rest OoF. This is interesting effect though.
this is making my head spin, not only from the sugar fix but the way you've got the background and the foreground in focus with the centre blurred ..
fantastic colours and a great image all round .. excellent processing .. :)
Sweet as can B..... and I like the rainbow of bright stripy colors.
They almost look like they are floating.....
I really like this macro....
Very much indeed.....
