This is one of my favorite scenes in Estes Park, Colorado. Every time I go, I try to get "the perfect" photo of this picturesque view. I even entered one in a challenge a couple of years ago. As we were leaving this year, I had just been thinking that I didn't even try to get this photo this time -- but then, we came around the bend in the road where it came into view, and the scene took my breath away with the sunrise, the low hanging clouds and those enourmous mountains towering over that hotel.
I'm sure my photo doesn't do it justice, but since we were pushing time to catch our plane in Denver, my husband said we could only stop if I would just snap and go (no tripod, no running around trying to get the best spot). So I jumped out, snapped, and this is it.
It's the Stanley Hotel where Stephen King was inspired to write his book, The Shining one New Year's Eve when he got snowed in there.

I gave this a 7 Sandy, it's an incredible shot! The hotel is excellent and the mix with the soft colors and focus of the mtns and the clouds makes an amazing testament to how small we really are! I love Estes Park also!

| man who can figure all these 5's and 6's? inexplicable, i am not trying to display false modesty here, but i cannot fathom how mine finished 82nd and this one at 249.....go figure, another beautiful shot my friend, worthy of framing. those clouds are something else! makes it look like 2 different pictures |

| Wow, does that look like the mt washington hotel, but that doesn't look like mt washington! Great shot, almost looks superimposed it's so dramatic, great shot. |
